Adding FileStream support to a database

  1. One-time per database server: Open SQL Server Configuration Manager, (Not SQL Server Management Studio ) go to the SQL Server Services tab (first one), right click the running SQL Server instance on the right pane and click Properties. Go to the FILESTREAM tab and check "Enable FILESTREAM for Transact-SQL access".
  2. In SQL Server Management Studio, right-click the server
  3. Advanced tab
  4. Under FIELSTREAM, FILESTREAM Access Level 'Transact-SQL access enabled'

USE <YourDatabaseName>
EXEC sp_configure filestream_access_level, 1;
GO
RECONFIGURE;
GO

ALTER DATABASE <YourDatabaseName> ADD
FILEGROUP MainFileStreamGroup CONTAINS FILESTREAM;
GO

ALTER DATABASE <YourDatabaseName> ADD FILE (
       NAME = MainFileStreamFile,
       FILENAME = 'C:\Fusion\SQL Server Data\<YourDatabaseName>FileStream')
TO FILEGROUP MainFileStreamGroup;
GO
